Art Rogers, an award-winning longtime PPAGLA member and former Los Angeles Times photographer best known for his sports coverage, has died. He was 93. Rogers, suffered a heart attack Dec. 16, died Tuesday in a skilled nursing facility near his home in Morro Bay, Calif., said his grandson, Jerry Rogers.
"Art Rogers is one of the great 4x5 Speed Graphic photogs", says longtime friend and PPAGLA member Bill Beebe. "One of his all-time great photos, 'Hairport' showed a long line of jackrabbits, their ears stuck up, along the old Mines Field Airport, the precursor of LAX", he added.
